Whether you’re looking for a wild life safari through the Serengeti National Park, a climb up Mount Kilimanjaro, or simply a healthy and home-cooked Tanzanian meal, Gerald is a master of helping his guests feel comfortable while experiencing the best that Tanzania has to offer.

TRANSPORTATION

We seek to provide a complete set of friendly and reliable services including transportation between Gerald’s Echo Home and Kilimanjaro International Airport, which is approximately 45 minutes away.  Our charges are modest and highly competitive.  But just as important as cost is safety and reliability, which is one of our specialties. The charge for transportation can vary dependent upon desired interim destinations and route, but the average charge is US $50 each way for a group of up to 4 people.  Our professional driver, Samuel (see him in the photo), is one of the best and most reliable drivers of Arusha.

ACCOMODATION

Gerald’s Eco Home has been carefully designed, engineered, and constructed within an intimate compound with four nicely appointed rooms, a gorgeous covered cabana for peaceful gatherings, and an art studio.  The entire set up was carefully planned to enhance environmental sustainability while assuring uncompromising comfort for guests. Up to six people can be accommodated with single or multiple bed configurations.

FOOD

Gerald is a master cook who accommodates even the most challenging of restricted diets.  Some diet restrictions can present special challenges and frustrate cooks.  Not Gerald – he makes most delicious meals that are appropriate compliant with special needs.  He does this while, at the very same time, delivering authentic African dishes that are: 

  • Healthy
  • Made from fresh vegetables, spices, grains, and meats
  • Traditional and native food: Sus, montori soup, green banana soup, amazing beans but also European style or hybrid with meat, vegan and the best crepes!

VOLUNTEER TOURISM

While we offer a wide range of tour packages, we also arrange opportunities to engage in meaningful volunteer experiences. Gerald’s Eco-Lodge has developed relationships with area schools, orphanages, clinics, and other charitable organizations through which we can arrange deeply satisfying volunteer experiences for an hour or several days. When our guests engage in our facilitated volunteer experiences, we accompany and support them to assure safe and satisfying opportunities to be of service while learning more about African people and culture. Consistent with our tour packages, we arrange custom experiences – not limited to off-the-shelf standardized programs from which to choose.
